Game Time! Dennis the Menace Board Game Review

Dennis the Menace Game

Year: 1993

Ages: 5+

Players: 2-4 (For the purpose of this review, 2 people played)

Set Up Time: 1 minute

Playing Time: Took us 7 minutes.

Object: Race around Dennis's neighborhood to collect your rope, tape and wagon to nab Switchblade Sam first.

Review:
+ Game board is colorful and the printing on it is large enough which can be seen from every angle around the board.
+ Instead of most kid games that just require you to get to the finish first, this game requires you to make three stops around the board for your rope, tape and wagon. So when you have collected your three items you need to be the first to get to Switchblade Sam which gives the game lots of opportunities to change up who is in the lead and keeps the older players interested with lots to do. Each space on the board is labeled with something to do like "Margaret asks you to kiss her. Lose a turn", plus there are also Mr. Wilson cards.

- There are four Dennis pawns you can play as. The downside is that the colors are not very distinctive and even though there were only two players, it was hard keeping straight who was who especially with the blue and purple colors that look very similar. Maybe I'm just getting old?

Overall:
This game is essentially made for children of the 90s who's first exposure to Dennis the Menace was the movie this game is based on. The board is bright, colorful and has plenty of large wording. Though the Dennis pawn colors aren't very distinctive, at least they made it more than a basic board game by having you collect items, take Mr. Wilson cards, follow the instructions on whatever space you land on and having to nab Switchblade Sam first. Not only would kids enjoy this game but whatever adults are stuck playing with them should remain entertained.

  1. I found the board for this game and my kids really wanted to play. Your blog has been helpful as I can't find instructions anywhere. You don't say what the Mr. Wilson cards are for though. Any chance you can post a picture of the cards and instructions for this game?
