Playing Time: Checkers took us 8 minutes. Tic Tac Toe took us 1 minute.
Object:
Checkers- Eliminate all of your opponents pieces.
Tic Tac Toe- Be the first player who succeeds in placing three respective marks in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row.
+ The board flips being able to not only be a checkers board but also a tic tac toe board.
+ I enjoy seeing not only red and green playing pieces but also Mario and Luigi's faces on their respective pieces.
+ Having Mario and Luigi's hats be the "king" playing pieces in Checkers is a good idea. It's easy to see on the board and also very important to each character as they are rarely seen without wearing or holding their hats.
- There is nothing that changes the play to either game. All of the normal checkers and tic tac toe rules apply.
Overall:
I enjoy that the board does double duty and is able to use both sides effectively. Seeing Mario & Luigi's faces on the pawns adds a little something extra and being able to use a large version of their hats as the "king" pawn is very creative. I do however wish that they would have changed the rules a bit or installed something into the game to make it more original. I would recommend this to any Super Mario fan, especially if they are in the younger age group.
